April 24, 2018

Diabetes is a chronic and insidious disease and only revealed through blood testing. Many people have been tested, but in a study just released by USPT over half of those people with pre-diabetes and diabetes have been missed by current testing.

Here are some of the newer thoughts by experts as to who should get tested, and we are suggetsting that earlier treatment is better to prevent pre-diabetics from becoming a diabetic

1. If you are overweight, over a BMI of 25 you should be tested

2. If you do not exercise regularly you should be tested

3. If you had diabetes or any abnormal blood sugar in pregnancy, you should be tested

4. If you have sugar in your urine dip test you should be tested

5. If you have family members who are diabetic or pre-diabetic you should be tested

6. If you have PCOS you should be tested

7. If you have ever had a fasting blood sugar over 100 you are a pre-diabetic

8. If you have ever had a Hba1c over 5.7% you are a prediabetic

9. If you have had a post meal blood sugar of over 140 you are a pre-diabetic
