Toxoplasmosis, what it is and how you got it
Toxoplasmosis is caused by infection with parasite Toxoplasma gondii, that we can pick up from being exposed to a source such as the litter of an infected cat. For those not exposed we do offer precautions against picking up the infection. Most of the infections that we catch are not serious, and thus never get detected. This T. gondi parasite can infect humans, land and sea mammals, and various bird species, so really it's not just a cat problem. In fact raw or undercooked meat is probably the source of most infections. You can pretty much contract this illness everywhere, except Antartica (who would think to look for it there?). About a forth of all Americans are estimated to have become infected already. T gondii however actually infects about 90% of Parisians. So when in Paris: order your meat well cooked and as for testing: see your Gyno before getting pregnant!
