It takes two to tango, protect both!

It takes two to tango, so protect both partners against STDs and pregnancy when planning which contraceptive to use if at risk for either! For those couples who don't feel at risk for either, then there is always the non-contraceptive benefits of contraceptives for women. Even getting sterilized protects a woman against some forms of ovarian cancer. In tone Issue of Contraception Nguyen, Shih and Turok of Oregon Health Science Department has pointed out that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) had first authorized the provision of contraception and sterilization care for women, but there was no direct mandate to also counsel, cover (provide condoms) or quash (sterilize via vasectomy) pregnancy from the males! Couples planning has often been a bit of a lopsided affair, with more women covering contraception than guys in heterosexual couples. Although about a third of couples over 35 choose sterilization as their method of contraception, more women still get tubal sterilization than men get vasectomies. Vasectomies as the group points out in their discussion, is slightly more effective and slightly safer than female sterilization, although both methods are extraordinarily effective and safe. The author's actual advise the leadership and the health agencies that make health policies: don't forget that it takes two to tango ( my words :) ) and make sure male contraception and contraceptive counseling is included in all plans you pick. That's something to gab about!
