Three New Reasons to Quit Smoking

Everyone knows that critical ways smoking harms your health is  to put you at risk of cancers, cardiovascular disease, and lung disease. Heath warnings that you are unaware of are providing us with more reasons to help you quit smoking tobacco!

 

1. Stopping smoking has a real chance to meaningfully extend your life. Over half of smokers will die of a tobacco related disease.

 

2. Guys: the smoking warnings may not have given you the memo on what smoking can do to your sex life. Erectile dysfunction is also a complication of smoking.

 

3. When we are healthy we make approximately 10,000,000,000 red blood cells are produced PER HOUR in the bone marrow to keep our blood count, known as hematocrit, stable. Because smoking robs us of oxygen it was thought that the blood stimulating factor Erythropoietin (EPO) would be higher in smokers. However, EPO is reduced in smokers, making it less likely to be able to have optimal oxygen when we work out.
