Younger Mom's Need More Calcium in Pregnancy

Current recommendations are to get 1300 if you are ages 13-18, but only 1000 mg a day if you are pregnant ages 19-50. This is the level for breastfeeding as well. Why extra calcium per day if younger? Your bones are still growing and have their own needs whether you are pregnant or not! So read your vitamin label, and do a quick check of calcium levels in your food....and if it's not quite adding up gab with your gyno on strategies to normalize the amount you are getting.
