80,000 Calories We Get To Eat!

Sounds so great, 80,000 calories, that you get to eat 'free' so to speak! That is the total energy cost of the average pregnancy! And that is how we get the calories per day you get to eat in pregnancy! If you divide 250 days (all but the first month of pregnancy) into that 80,000 calories, you get about 300 extra calories per day in pregnancy. And it's mostly carbohydrate fuel that is burned extra in pregnancy, so you can eat up, to some extent, when you are knocked up!
