This gene is actually named the fragile histidine triad and it's on your third chromosome. And it's fascinating to gynos because it is where HPV most frequently attacks. In fact almost half of all precancers of the cervix in one study were found to have a broken FHIT gene. The obvious question, is do you have this and can we fix it! But maybe before we get down to that question, lets ask these German researchers if their ancient devotchoka how was her FHIT gene? Were the Denisovans as susceptible to HPV as we are?
