Midwife Gives Birth to All of Western Philosophy

You are playing pictonary, and the clue is philosopher: Your answer: Socrates! Socrates himself had a fairly modest upbringing, and he was a barefoot stone cutter from Athens, and became the most famous thinker of his time. His thoughts and concepts are at the root of all Western Philosophy. Socrates mother, Phaenarete, was a midwife! Us gynos, obs and midwifes are quite the accomplished group! Though not much is really known about Phaenarete, the few writings that exist indicate that he thought very highly of her. I like to think of her saying, "don't talk back to me, you don't know it all" and he then said...."the only thing I know is that I know nothing"... Just saying.
