A boost To Labor: The African Coffee Tree

You may not recognize the name of this African Coffee Tree right off but you probably recognize the famous oil made by cold-pressing the seeds of the Ricinus communis: or more commonly known as castor oil. Its actually increases our ability to have a bowel movement by an interesting pat, it promotes fluid and ions to accumulate in the colon and it stimulates the nerves in the small intestine muscle. Through this action when ingested, you will begin to have 2-6 stools which come several hours after the dose.Although not thought to be toxic in pregnancy, and often cited as a home remedy for beginning labor, you would want to avoid the ingestion of castor oil for most of the pregnancy so that you don't inadvertently begin labor when you are still premature.
