Breast Lump Better Picture

Breast fibroadenoma seen on left with ultrasound and seen on the right with 3-D enhancement

Ultrasound is safe and an ideal way to tell your physician if the lump you feel is just normal breast tissue, a fluid filled cyst, or a more solid mass. Ultrasounds can be both quick and painless, and can be repeated safely as there is no radiation exposure the way there is for standard mammograms. In this picture a non-cancerous fibroadenoma is pictured. Your gyno may recommend a biopsy to confirm what the mass is, or recommend follow up testing, including a mammogram to determine what the significance of the lump is.
