When to Introduce Your Daughter to Your Gyno

Young women don't need an actual cervical cancer screen, the pap smear, until age 21. But the first encounter with the gynecologist should be years before. Menstrual cycle discussions, questions about breast and hair development, when to begin contraception and when to have STD testing are topics that are all appropriate for a young woman to discuss long before that first pap smear. I call this visit the prepap ('pre'-pap). Make sure your teen has one!
