Didn't Pass Your Cholesterol Test? But When Was Your Last Period?

We know that cholesterol tests have to be scheduled around breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but then again, did you know you had to check your last period if you are a cycling female? The research reported in a news item in the September issue of JAMA performed by a NICHHD fellow Sunni Mumford who put the woman's fertility monitors to use checking their cycle before they had cholesterol tests found that earlier in the cycle, when estrogen levels are higher, they were more likely to not pass their LDL-C tests and the total cholesterol levels were higher than in the luteal phase. No current recommendations are made yet, and we haven't figured out the amount of variance, nor what the women tended to eat during those cycle times. So perhaps there's more than just what the numbers tell us to sort!
