When to test for HPV during your cycle if you are on Birth Control Pills

Your immune system can be tested in many ways, but at the gyno office, we don't usually do those tests. However, in research studies where we can look specifically at when the body produces immunoglobulins, well then we have a newest wrinkle in our immune system. It seems that some women will have certain times during the month when their immune system is more potent. Being on continuous oral contraceptives may disrupt this pattern. And not all studies of immune changes during the cycle have controlled for this factor. So when scheduling your pap, we say, don't have sex and don't douche, but we don't really think of the cycle time, but this in the future may become something to consider.
